1916 Grand threatened by owners of The Cashew

A recent permit was filed by the owners of The Cashew (20th & Grand) to demolish the current structure at 1916 Grand.

When questioned on the motives via Twitter, The Cashew’s account stated they were responsible, and the demolished building would make way for surface parking. The need for more parking comes from the development of a hotel at 20th & Main, removing a significant number of spots from capacity.

The Cashew went on to say they’ve asked to rent spaces from a number of surface lots in the area, without luck.

UPDATE (1/4)

The Cashew has said the city reached out with an offer to help them work with Assurant Empolyee Benefits on a solution. The demolition is said to be on hold.
